Kirk D Pearson US Congress District 1

Mission

I am not looking for a career change. I have been blessed with a talent from God to be able to build and remodel great homes, which is what I enjoy doing.

I was asked to run for Congress and it did not seem like the most convenient time, but I remembered Patrick Henry when he said,"If not me, then who? And if not now, then when?"  I know our founding fathers sacrificed everything to give us this great country, so I decided to help do my part.  Congress is so out of touch with the American people, and I would like to see them represent "we the people" again, and become accountable.  As your Congressman, I will put forth legislation to restore our republic to the original principles it was built on.

First, I will put Congress on the same pay scale as the average American worker today -- which is about $41,000 per year, instead of the $175,ooo they receive now. Then I will tie their  wage to the American workers' wage which means that if we make more money so will our Congressmen. Do you think then our Congressmen might be a little more concerned about fixing America's economy instead of  worrying about the global economy?

Next, I would do away with Congress'  lifetime pension plan and put them on social security just like the rest of Americans. Do you think then our Congressmen might improve the social security system that is bankrupt?

I will also do away with their private health insurance that you and I can't purchase and let them buy insurance the same way you and I have to. Do you think perhaps they might stop regulating the health insurance industry so the insurance companies can compete to lower our insurance rates?

Our founding fathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honors so that we, as their posterity, could live in a land of liberty.  No country in 1776 anywhere in the world was free, but our forebears gave us the formula for success, and America's amazing rise to power is evidence that their formula was correct.  Let's not assume that today's issues are the real problems because those issues are only symptoms of the true problem -- how far we have strayed from the original intent of the principles preserved in the Constitution.  It is time for us as  parents and grandparents to stand up and admit to our mistakes and ask our children to help us with the solutions.  We will find that the youth of our country, who are truly so worried about their future, will be energized by our efforts, and they will take the next steps to prove that American ingenuity is alive and well and has a new, rising generation, perhaps the best generation yet, to carry the banner of freedom to the world.

The founding fathers believed they had a mission to fulfill, and they believed God had given them a myriad of miracles with which to accomplish that mission.  Their belief that God governs in the affairs of men shows in many ways, one of which is the mention of God four separate times in the Declaration of Independence.  Even philosophers through ages, who are also nonreligionists, have understood the necessity of the code of moral absolutes under which individuals in a civil society must exist.

I make no apology for my sincere and deeply felt spiritual convictions that God had a hand in giving us the Constitution and He expects us, the posterity who are the beneficiaries of so much sacrifice from our forbears, to continue the work for our children's future.  In that spirit, I pledge to you that I will do all within my power to restore the principles upon which our freedom depends.  I believe I speak the language of the common man, but the feelings in my soul for this work are said beautifully by Henry B. Eyering who was quoting Dr. Bob Moorehead:

I am a part of the fellowship of the unashamed.  The die has been cast.  I have stepped over the line.  The decision has been made.  I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.  I won’t look back, let down, slow up, or be still.  My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure.  I’m finished and done with low living, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals.  I no longer need preeminence, position, promotions, plaudits or popularity.  I don’t have to be right, first, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded.  I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with patience, am uplifted by prayer, and labor with power.  My face is set, my gait is fast, my  goal is heaven.  My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear.  I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, divided, or delayed.  I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.  I won’t give up, shut up, or let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, and paid up for the cause of Christ.  I must go ‘til He comes, give ‘til I drop, preach ‘til all know, and work ‘til He stops me.  And when He returns for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me.  My banner will be clear.
